Contrinex is participating in this year’s SPS IPC Drives with new and innovative sensor solutions. During the exhibition, from 22nd to 24th November, the sensor specialist will present for the first time the TRU-C23 photoelectric sensor, which uses UV light. This photoelectric system is ideally suited for the reliable detection of transparent objects.
For transparent object detection, various sensor manufacturers offer photoelectric sensors without the conventional reflector. However, this approach is by no means ideal: sensors without a reflector must be installed with a very precisely defined background and precise switching distances. At the same time, achievable sensing ranges are reduced.
The new TRU-C23 photoelectric sensor with IO-Link from Contrinex therefore operates as a proven reflector system. Thanks to sensing technology, the sensor provides exceptionally high detection reliability, allowing it to detect even very thin, transparent objects. It uses a light source operating in the ultraviolet spectrum, whose beam is absorbed by clear glass or plastic.and approved, rated to IP67 and reliably withstands common industrial cleaning processes.
The sensor system comprises an LED that emits polarized UV light and a reflector made of special materials suitable for UV. Overall, the sensor’s operating range is around 1000 mm. Special optics with autocollimation ensure reliable detection and no blind zone, even close to the sensor or through a small notch. The housing, which is only 30 x 20 x 10 mm, is compatible with the entire C23 series as well as comparable devices. The IO-Link interface also provides the important additional benefit of remote commissioning, diagnostics and parameterization as standard and at no extra cost. The sensor is Ecolab tested and approved, rated to IP67 and reliably withstands common industrial cleaning processes.
Typical areas of application include the detection of clear glass or plastic containers and foil in the food and beverage industry, as well as presence checking of small bottles or tubes in the pharmaceutical industry.
New detection and measurement light grids
With the new DGI (detection) and MGI (measurement) series, Contrinex presents compact infrared light grids as a robust plug-and-play solution. With a cross-section of only 40 x 20.5 mm, these space-saving devices are easily integrated into different systems. DGI types offer detection heights up to 2010 mm and are capable of detecting objects with diameters of 0.9, 2, 4, 8 or 25 mm, depending on type. With response times between 0.8 and 4.8 ms, even small objects moving at high speed can be reliably detected and counted. Fields of application include the production of small parts or foil, packaging equipment and the pharmaceutical industry. In addition to detecting the presence of an object, MGI measurement types can also determine its dimensions and position. These sensors offer measurement heights up to 1438 mm and a resolution of 5 or 12 mm. Measurements are output as analog values of 0 … 10 V or as a 4-20 mA signal. Typical fields of application for infrared measurement light grids are to be found in logistics, automated packaging, warehousing or the woodworking industry.
