The process:
Step 1 – Receipt
The PSIRT acknowledges receipt of the report and assigns a tracking identifier.
Step 2 – Validation
The reported issue is analyzed to determine whether it represents a valid security vulnerability.
Step 3 – Risk Assessment
The vulnerability is evaluated using industry-recognized scoring methods.
Factors considered include:
· Attack complexity
· Required privileges
· Potential impact
· Exploitability
Step 4 – Remediation
Appropriate corrective actions are developed and validated.
Examples include:
· Software updates
· Firmware updates
· Configuration guidance
· Mitigation measures
Step 5 – Disclosure
When appropriate, Contrinex publishes a Security Advisory containing:
· Affected products
· Severity assessment
· Mitigation guidance
· Availability of fixes
